WaSP has just announced the Street Team what a great idea, letting every one make his mark in supporting the standards.
There first project is great, its objective is to move old books that contains old, harmful information about the web from the libraries shelves to the archives, go on make your mark.

d.Constuct 2007
Here it comes again d.Construct 2007 on 7th September at Brighton Dome, this year it's all about Designing the user experience as a result of that the d.Construct site will be evolved over time to mimic the user experience process, what an idea.

Naked again
Are you surprised why this site is CSS naked just like last year, here comes again 5th April the annual CSS Naked Day started by Dustin Diaz on 5th April 2006.
Do you have enough courage to take of your CSS showing how semantic and clean your markup is.

International Liaison Group (ILG)
Since the WaSP introduced the forming of International Liaison Group (ILG) I was very interested to join this group of international Standardista's, because together we could help each others to reach the goal we all work for, which is a better web for all of us, we've been working together all this time since about May 13 2006 till now, and now finally it's announced I represent Egypt, and I hope I could deliver to the Egyptian web community the importance of complying the standards, I've been trying this since 2005 but now as we all together, it's even easier.
Thanks all ILG members for your support and sorry for being a lazy member, and special thanks to Molly who started this whole idea and by the way good luck Molly with your new position at Microsoft.

Announcing ausedcar.net
Hello all! good morning to all of you, Today is the birth of our very own project ausedcar.net all it's meant to do is to be a directory of used cars where you can view cars by any search criteria like make, price & ofcourse country as well as you can add your car with it's details and your contact info for whoever is interested of your car.
So what's so special about this there is dozens of used cars directories out there?
The first principle I put in front my eyes while designing this system is
Less is more
that means that this is only a used cars directory and it's nothing easier than viewing or adding cars you don't have to login and run through a questionnaire etc it's really so simple.If your privacy matters you may choose not to show your contact information instead a form will be shown to buyer so he can send you his contact info and a message.
It's all AJAXed maybe a non technical person would not understand that, but it simply means you don't have to jump from page to page every time you request an operation like for example when you add a car or request a photo or contact info "Buy now" no refreshment to the page all in the same page, thanks to Mostafa Sobhy in that and in developing the whole back end system that's terrific Mostafa.
You could follow new added cars by RSS it's a technology for fast tracking content without the need of viewing the whole site, many of you already know that.
For short ausedcar.net is not just a new cars directory like any one out there, it's user experience was perfectly designed to be friendly fun & easy.

User Experience Week 2006
adaptive path the leaders of user experience has arranged the user experience week from August 14 to 17, I hope there will be any podcasts to hear, as there are very interesting topics that will be discussed with very interesting speakers including Jesse James Garrett from adaptive path & Jeffrey Veen a co-founder of adaptive path currently working with google.

@media tomorrow
@media 2006 is starting tomorrow don't miss it, all pioneer designers/developers/speakers will be there speaking about all new technologies, techniques and standards, check the schedule all sessions are great but I have special interest in Good Design vs. Great Design, Fine Typography On the Web & Designing the Next Generation of Web Apps on day one, Internationalisation: Awakening The Sleeping Giant & Microformats: Evolving the Web on day two.
Last year event was great and this year looks even greater, I hope I could go there but unfortunately I couldn't, but no worries I'm sure a lot of bloggers will live blog the event, and the podcasts will come out short after the event too.
Thanks to Gareth for setting up this mini site putting all @media related posts from the blogsphere infront of your eyes in one page, if you are live blogging tomorrow please suggest your feed.

Rails day '06
A competition between Ruby on Rails developers for the best Ruby application built in 24 hours from 12:00am Eastern Daylight Time on June 17th and 11:59pm EDT on June 17th including all digital mock-ups, identity design, XHTML, CSS, Flash, Javascript, etc.

FRESH PX to sponsor CSS Reboot
Here comes again the reboot time when web designers all over the world redesign there CSS styled sites showing the entire world all at once just how great accessible, standards design can really be. On 1st May all rebooters will expose there new designs.

CSS Naked Day
In the spirit of promoting Web Standards along with good semantic markup and proper hierarchy structure, Dustin Diaz will start the first annual CSS naked day on 5th April.
Who has the courage to take off his CSS for a day and show his <body> to every one, check the naked page to see how can you participate and a list of all participants.

WaSP enters new time in its history
We’ve stung, we’ve swarmed, we’ve buzzed. Sometimes we’ve failed to make our mark, other times we’ve been far more successful. But there’s one thing that’s certain, and that is as of Monday, March 13th, the Web Standards Project enters a new time in its history, opening the hive up to better include the communities and issues we’ve done our black and gold best to represent since 1998.
As the WaSP entering a new time in its history, I'd like to thank them for being very supportive and helpful in leading me through the way of web standards and I think it's time to start to respond and begin learning and acting hoping for better cleaner web experience.
As WaSP entering a new time in its history Andy Clark has redesigned the WaSP site in a new black and gold theme with better more informative home page and finally comments & trackback support.

@media 2006 announced
@media back to us only bigger and better from folks at Vivabit, @media 2006 announced to be held on 16th-17th June collecting the most well known experts from all over the world discussing the hottest topics out there, we will miss Jeffrey Zeldman and Douglas Bowman this year.
Can't wait to hear @media's podcasts I hope the organizers podcast every session, especially Molly's session Internationalisation: Awakening the Sleeping Giant and Tantek's session Microformats: Evolving The Web.

$100 laptop for poor
A cheap, robust laptop has been developed by MIT Media Lab for only $100 Its main objective is deliviring better education for poor students.
The new laptop Nicknamed the green machine is extremly functional, it has a very low power consumption that it is powered only with a wind-up crank, instead of hard drive it has a 1GB flash memory.
here is it's specs as mentioned on Wikipedia.
Hardware
Its hardware specifications, as of October 2005, are:
- 500 MHz CPU (Processor) by AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) Inc.
- 1 GB of flash memory (no hard drive)
- SVGA 8" diagonal display (dual LCD Colour/Black & White mode for power conservation and outdoor reading); estimated cost $35
- 128 MB of DRAM
- AC Cord that doubles as carrying strap as the power source and a hand-crank (one minute of cranking gives enough power for 10 minutes of operating).
- The cost of materials and assembly for each laptop is estimated to be approximately $100.
Software
All of the software on the $100 Laptop will be open-source. The projected software as of November 2005 is:
- Red Hat Linux variant as operating system
- A web browser
- A word processor
- An email program
- A programming system
The laptops will only be distributed to schools directly through large government initiatives, Brazil, Thailand, Egypt, United States (Massachusetts), Cambodia, Costa Rica and Tunisia already committed in various ways.
Let me add that this step is a huge step in the history of Education, IT and ofcourse the web, every body will be able to browse the net and use Email, Till now only 14% of the world use the net and 64% in the US after this step things will change.

d.Construct results
d.construct held on 11 of November I hope most of you followed the live updates, it was really a great conference I personally learned alot from it.
First of all Andy's presentation titled What is Web 2.0? was great, the community needed a presentation like this long time ago there was alot of thoughts going around including mine, but this presentation document those thoughts in a simple understandable points that I think every body agree on.
Stuart's presentation about DOM scripting and Ajax was also very useful explains how DOM can make richer user experiences and that Ajax reduce the waiting time which also leads to a better experience
Tom Hume Presentation Web everywhere? was a new topic to me but it was very interesting it contains valuable information about mobile phones popularity and how it is the device of the century, letting you really believe that it is the future of the internet, and start thinking how the web will be few years later.

d.Construct today
d.construct is a conference about Web 2.0 hosted by Andy Budd featuring a rich program started by Andy's presentation named What is Web 2.0 which I think will be a very important presentation that the community need it now very much plus other great presentations too about new technologies like Ajax & flash, and other great presentations too.
Andy said he will try to post updates on his blog but you can keep up with Technorati and Flickr.

Web Essentials 2005
WE05 started in sydney early yesterday at 9 am by Molly Holzschlag Keynote presentation titled State of the Web, 2005 were she pointed several good points about what the web has reached today and how it is incredibly positive network that bond people together from different countries with very low costs , she introduced most of the speakers , and she also mentioned some of the new Web 2.0 related applications & technologies like flickr, Google maps, Skype, AJAX, Basecamp, upcoming.org, Del.icio.us & Ruby on Rails.
You may ask me were you there?
that's a good question and the answer is no and I don't have to be there to know every thing about the conference and this is a practical demo of how the web can be helpful in connecting people together. As the conference started people there started posting photos on flickr, writing on there blogs & podcasting online from there.
Well actually I listened to Molly's keynote only so I think I will have a cup of coffee and continue listening the rest of the presentations.
