Most intelligent person in the world (Me)

You might be surprised of the title, but what I meant really is the opposite, what I'm thinking? what I want to say? I want to say that every body think he is the most intelligent person in the world and that his opinion in any and every thing is the right one.

How do I know I'm not the most intelligent person out there?

What if I'm this person insisting on my opinion while it's wrong, how will I know it's wrong. I remember all this cases I fought for then after a long time I discovered maybe by chance that I'm totally wrong, if we are two arguing about something both of us 100% sure he is right, one of us has to be wrong, why not me? That's how I discovered I'm not the most intelligent person out there.

Why this is a big problem?

  1. If you think you are the most intelligent person in the world you will never try to learn or discuss and get convinced with different things, you will never get benefit of others experiences or elders advices, your knowledge will stop here.
  2. You might ruin your life or job by your ignorance.
  3. People will hate you.

I face this problem alot in meetings with clients to discuss there websites, my clients usually have no idea about websites or maybe a slight background, they started to say I want my main website color to be dark violet for example while I see that there type of business and targeted visitors will not like or get comfortable with this color, this is just an example it may get more complicated than that maybe your client tell you change the navigation place or structure.

Client level / Geek level = ResultIn this case I have to try to convince my client that this is better bla bla bla usually they don't get convinced so we get to a middle solution and you have to do it not to lose the job while you know that you could do this website alot better than this.

What to do now?

Always put a probability even if it's small that your opinion might be wrong. If it's your profession you're talking about decrease this probability if it's away of your profession and for example it's the first time you hear about this issue etc.. then increase this probability.

It may help to use the word "I think" or "I believe".

Well this is not what I do but I just thought to right about this because I think it's really an important issue that has to be solved, and by the way I'm not 100% sure that what I've just written is true :)

For the sake of our profession which is web design as most of you already know, please take this survey, about yourself, your work, your title, your skills, your salary etc...

Happy Cog redesigned

Happy Cog logoThe old Happy Cog site was great but this new site is even greater I like it's sentence navigation very much it delivers the message just perfect, and it's typography, colors & layout are very nice.

Designed by Jason Santa Maria top illustration by Kevin Cornell who is well known by his ALA illustrations Daniel Mall for markup, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and Dan Cederholm set up the WordPress blog.

What do you expect when the best of the web industry minds get together to create this master piece, I hope web designers, developers and more importantly user experience designers learn from those giants how to make a web site.

International Liaison Group (ILG)

Since the WaSP introduced the forming of International Liaison Group (ILG) I was very interested to join this group of international Standardista's, because together we could help each others to reach the goal we all work for, which is a better web for all of us, we've been working together all this time since about May 13 2006 till now, and now finally it's announced I represent Egypt, and I hope I could deliver to the Egyptian web community the importance of complying the standards, I've been trying this since 2005 but now as we all together, it's even easier.

Thanks all ILG members for your support and sorry for being a lazy member, and special thanks to Molly who started this whole idea and by the way good luck Molly with your new position at Microsoft.
